On this page
Odin Ice Baths was a real Australian company that built cedar ice baths. It went into voluntary administration on April 1, 2025, according to a notice filed with Australia’s corporate regulator, ASIC. Customers have publicly reported paying in full or in part for baths that were never delivered. If you are looking at an Odin product today, the first thing to confirm is who is selling it and who would honor the warranty.
I’m not issuing a verdict here. Below is the public record, checked against our Pre-Purchase Scam Checklist, so you can decide for yourself.
The record at a glance
| Check | What I found |
|---|---|
| Company | Odin Ice Baths Pty Ltd, ACN 159 533 070, Queensland, Australia. |
| Status | Administrators appointed April 1, 2025, under section 436A, by the company itself. Joint administrators: Nick Keramos and Bill Karageozis. |
| Business sale | In April 2025, posts from the administrators invited expressions of interest in the ice bath manufacturing business. |
| Store domain | odinplunge.com. Registered April 2021. The site now draws almost no search traffic. |
| Customer reports | Australian TV program A Current Affair aired customers saying they paid about AUD 9,000 to 10,000 for baths that never arrived. r/coldplunge threads describe the same thing. |
| Payment terms (as sold) | A 50% deposit at order, balance due before delivery, with lead times of 10 to 16 weeks, per a MoveWell review. |
| BBB | Not applicable. Odin was an Australian company. |
| CPSC recalls | None found. |
Why the payment structure matters
Odin sold on a deposit model with long lead times. That means buyers paid before their bath was built. When a company enters administration with open orders, deposit holders become unsecured creditors. They usually recover little or nothing. This is the core risk with any cold plunge sold on a long pre-order, from any brand.
What happened after administration
- Several Australian competitors, including KOUD and Helsi, publicly offered discounts or credits of up to AUD 3,500 to Odin customers. Those are marketing offers, not refunds.
- An Australian recovery-center owner described plumbing new third-party chillers into existing Odin tubs after the collapse. Existing tubs can still work. Odin warranty support is the open question.
- I could not confirm from public records whether a buyer took over the Odin brand. If someone is selling Odin products now, ask who owns the business and whether they honor pre-administration warranties.
A note on “Nordhaus”
Our original research brief paired Odin with a brand called Nordhaus. I found no public record linking the two. If you’ve seen the name used alongside Odin products, treat it as unverified until a seller can show you the business registration.
Before you buy any pre-order plunge
- Avoid large deposits on long lead times when you can.
- If you must pay a deposit, use a credit card, and note the date your dispute rights expire.
- Search the company’s name on the national business register (ASIC in Australia, your Secretary of State in the U.S.) before you pay.
