Both complaints describe repeated chiller failures followed by refund requests the company declined, offering replacements instead.

What the complaints say
Both BBB complaints follow the same arc.
- 2026. A buyer reports a December 2024 system with a chiller replaced under warranty in 2025, continued performance problems, and later a leaking tub. The buyer asked for a $5,480 refund. Polar Monkeys offered a free replacement tub and continued chiller service, and said a refund was outside its policy. The buyer rejected the offer.
- 2024. A buyer describes a 2023 unit that failed, was exchanged, and failed again. The buyer says the returned unit was received with its power cord cut, which the company said voided the warranty. Polar Monkeys says it still sent a replacement chiller as an exception. The two sides describe the event differently.
On r/coldplunge, owner comments are mixed. Some describe trouble-free use after minor setup issues. Others question chiller durability across the category in general.
The warranty change matters
Polar Monkeys doubled its standard warranty to 2 years for orders from March 3, 2026. If you’re buying used or buying old stock from a retailer, confirm the order date that applies. Also note the replacement process. The defective unit must reach Polar Monkeys before a replacement ships, or you pay a deposit equal to the full retail value, refunded when the old unit arrives.
Before you buy
- Confirm in writing that your order gets the 2-year warranty.
- Keep the original chiller box for at least a year. Polar Monkeys recommends this for warranty returns.
- Ask how long a typical swap takes, given that the old unit ships first.
- Pay by credit card.
