Renu Therapy is a real, operating cold plunge maker that has sold online since at least 2019. The main finding is how little public record exists. I found no BBB profile, no Trustpilot profile, no recalls, and no failure reports for its two best-known models. Its warranty is one of the longest in the category for the tub, but only 1 year on the chiller.

I’m not issuing a verdict here. Below is the public record, checked against our Pre-Purchase Scam Checklist, so you can decide for yourself.

The record at a glance

CheckWhat I found

Business listingNo BBB profile found. A third-party review site describes Renu as a Southern California workshop building plunges since 2017.
BBB complaintsNone found.
TrustpilotNo profile found. Garage Gym Reviews reported finding five Google reviews, all 5-star.
WarrantyChiller: 1 year, extendable to 5 years total for $299.99 if bought within 364 days of shipment. All other components on plastic-tub models: 5 years. Residential use only. Buyer pays shipping on replacement parts.
CPSC recallsNone found for Renu Therapy.
ContrastMap Chiller Reliability IndexCold Stoic 3.0 and Cold Stoic 2.0: score 85 each (0 failure-relevant reports in 6 examined, low confidence).

What a thin record means

A clean record and a thin record are not the same thing. Renu sells high-priced units, from about $7,200 to more than $11,000, in low volume. Fewer buyers means fewer public reviews and fewer complaints of any kind. Our Reliability Index found zero failure reports, but only six sources to examine per model. That is not enough to call the chiller reliable. It is enough to say I found no evidence of a pattern of failures.

How warranty repairs work

Renu’s process is unusual. Most repairs are done by the owner with parts Renu ships. If you can’t do the repair yourself, Renu pays up to $50 an hour, for up to 2 hours, toward an approved local technician. Renu may also replace the tub or ship it to the factory if an on-site repair isn’t possible. Ask whether you’re comfortable with that before you buy.

Before you buy

  1. Price the extended chiller warranty into your budget. The base chiller coverage is 1 year.
  2. Ask whether a local technician in your area has serviced Renu units before.
  3. Ask Renu for references from owners in your climate.
  4. Pay by credit card.
