Solstice cold plunges are made by Solstice Watersports, a real, operating company that sells inflatable paddleboards, docks, and kayaks from a domain registered in 2013. Its 100-gallon inflatable plunge tub is sold through Amazon, Target, and Walmart as well as its own site. I found no BBB profile, no recalls, and only scattered owner reports. The tub ships without a chiller.

I’m not issuing a verdict here. Below is the public record, checked against our Pre-Purchase Scam Checklist, so you can decide for yourself.

The name collision problem

If you search “Solstice scam” or look up “Solstice” on the BBB, you will find complaints. They are about other companies. This is a real hazard when researching any brand with a common name. Always match the company by its website domain, not by name alone.

What owners report

There isn’t much. On r/coldplunge, one owner who bought a Solstice tub on Amazon says the first unit had a slow leak at the bottom bulkhead fitting and was returned. Reviews on the Solstice site are positive and mention easy setup and sturdy walls. Expect the usual inflatable-tub tradeoffs, which testers note across this category: slow air leaks and some bowing over time.

What you’re actually buying

The Solstice plunge is an insulated inflatable tub with inlet and outlet ports. It works with ice, or you can add a separate chiller. That keeps the price low, but it also means the tub is only half of a chilled system. If you add a chiller from another brand, that chiller’s warranty is a separate question.

Before you buy

  1. Decide whether you’ll use ice or add a chiller, and price the chiller separately.
  2. Note that 30-day returns apply to purchases on the Solstice site. Retailer returns follow the retailer’s policy.
  3. Inspect the bulkhead fittings for leaks in the first week.
  4. Pay by credit card.
