The Cold Life is a real, operating U.S. company selling vertical cold plunges from a store domain registered in January 2023. It has a small BBB file with two complaints, both unanswered. It offers a 1-year warranty and charges a 10% restocking fee plus return shipping on returns. Much of the “scam” content ranking for this brand is published by a competitor.

I’m not issuing a verdict here. Below is the public record, checked against our Pre-Purchase Scam Checklist, so you can decide for yourself.

Who’s writing the scam pages

Search for this brand and you’ll find long “exposed” pages alleging fake reviews, leaks, and warranty denials. The most detailed ones are hosted on thenordicwave.com, the site of competitor Nordic Wave. Those pages may contain real owner reports, but they are written by a rival trying to win the same sale. I didn’t use them as a source for any figure on this page.

Review math

The Cold Life’s homepage review carousel mixes reviews of its cold plunges with reviews of a showerhead product. That’s not deceptive on its own. But it means a homepage star count doesn’t tell you how the plunge specifically performs. Look for reviews tagged to the exact model, and compare them with independent platforms.

What owners report

Before you buy

  1. Price the 10% restocking fee and return freight into your decision. On a $7,000 bundle, that’s $700 before shipping.
  2. Ask how warranty chiller repairs are handled and who pays shipping.
  3. Ask for reviews specific to the model you’re buying.
  4. Pay by credit card.
